Unkle K's Bands of the Week

War Iron
Jeebus! This is heavy, raw heaviness from Irish behemoth War Iron, who employ a massive two bass guitar attack. Drummer Marty is also a member of the equally awesome Slomatics.

Light Bearer
London band Light Bearer have spent 2 years developing Silver Tongue and the results are amazing. I suppose you could put them in the post metal camp, but there is so much more going on than your average Isis clone. This release has an orchestral/movie score feel to it. It is also available for free download on the band's website. Highly recommended.

Cerce
Boston’s Cerce remind me of Melbourne’s wonderful Useless Children - fantastic high pitched manic female vocals on top of crunchy mosh riffs and pummeling beats. Very catchy and sing-along-able.

This Week's Gigs

A couple of fun nights in store for us this week...

On Friday 22 Feb the legendary Hard-Ons will make a very welcome return to the ANU Bar, supported by Time & Weight (featuring members of Ballistic Allshorts, The Bloody Vice and The Hooligans).

And on Saturday 23 Feb the Phoenix will play host to a rockin' night of boozy sleaze served up by Turbobelco, The VeeBees and Seedy Jeezus.

Good times assured!
